Our Mission
PERK is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of evacuees by delivering emergency kits to wildfire shelters. The kits include hygiene products, food, clothing, and activities to help pass time. PERK was founded in 2021.
Message From Our Founder
Tara Malhotra
I will never forget the feeling of being evacuated due to the California wildfires. In fact, that feeling of hopelessness is what inspired me to found the Phoenix Emergency Recovery Kits (PERK) nonprofit organization in 9th grade. As someone who has experienced the pain and desperation that comes with wildfire evacuation, my goal is for the PERK wellness kits to help people feel more comfortable during such trying times. The PERK donations of hygiene products, food, clothing, and activities make the evacuation experience more manageable through resources and support. I am very proud to say that PERK has impacted 2,400+ people so far, and we are committed to helping evacuees for years to come.
